Lithuania’s Foreign Minister stressed that the Government of Lithuania would seek to deepen its partnership with the U.S. based on shared interests and values, because it considered closer relations with the U.S. as a top priority. The interlocutors also noted that Lithuania, together with the U.S., would seek to further strengthen the transatlantic partnership within NATO, to deepen the U.S.-EU cooperation, as well as on the issue of China, and Lithuania’s wish to develop mutually beneficial relations with Taiwan.
When discussing cooperation possibilities between Lithuania and the U.S. in the Indo-Pacific region, Landsbergis highlighted that in implementing the Government’s programme, Lithuania would aim to open up favourable opportunities for Lithuanian businesses, helping them establish a presence in new markets in the region that created more than 60% of global GDP.
In addition, Landsbergis stressed that together with the U.S., Lithuania would seek to implement commitments to promote peace, prosperity, security, democracy and human rights both in the transatlantic region and around the world. The Lithuanian Foreign Minister also called on the U.S. to contribute to the strengthening of solidarity between NATO allies and the EU member states.
