During the visit on 18–19 March in Kiev, Minister Skuodis will meet Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii and Mikheil Saakashvili, former President of Georgia, who now heads the Executive Committee of Ukraine’s National Reform Council.
During the bilateral meetings the ministers are to focus on the matters related to strengthening regional cooperation and economic relationships in the areas of railway, road and air transport.
In Kiev, in order to reinforce cooperation and boost the recovery of transport sectors after the coronavirus pandemic, the ministers will sign a Memorandum of Intent regarding the cooperation in developing freight and passenger transport by railway and developing digital procedures for issuing permits to perform international freight and passenger transport by roads. If implemented, these agreements would open up new business opportunities and promote innovation.
With the Ukrainian Railway Reform underway, the minister and Saakashvili will discuss possibilities to provide expert assistance and to share the experience of Lithuania.
The Minister of Transport and Communications will also attend the Sixth Ukrainian-Lithuanian Economic Forum and will give a speech on the topic “Economics and pandemic: crisis and new opportunities”.
