‘Lithuania and Finland have notably enjoyed very good bilateral relations, but I believe we could do more in benefiting from the best practices available not only in Finland but also in other Nordic countries, particularly as regards an education reform and innovations’, said the Prime Minister.
Relevant issues on the European Union and regional agendas, economic recovery and economic stimulus, the green agenda and digitisation have also been talked over.
In the recent conversation between Prime Minister Šimonytė and Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Mirella Marin, the counterparts agreed to step up cooperation on COVID-19, economic recovery and other key issues. Finland, together with other Nordic countries, remains Lithuania’s key partner in the Baltic Sea region. The close and dynamic economic partnership and cooperation under NB8 format make a great asset.
Finland’s position and support on the issue of the unsafe Astravyets nuclear power plant has always been very much appreciated, and it is absolutely critical to ensure that all the nuclear safety and environmental recommendations are implemented without delay.
This year happens to mark the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment and 100th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Finland.
