'The number of voters - 92 thousand - is impressive. It has increased by one third in comparison to the elections to the Seimas. Among all the parties of the ruling coalition only the EAPL and Order and Justice parties have significantly improved their results,' said Valdemar Tomaševski. He also added that EAPL unites not only representatives of national minorities but also people of Lithuanian nationality.
V. Tomaševski informed that the coalition of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania and the Russian Alliance 'Block of Valdemar Tomaševski' won in about 10 percent of all the districts of the state.
'We did not have such support in Lithuania for a long time. In some districts we managed to get more than 90% of votes. We won in about 200 districts including 70 districts of Vilnius city. It means, that we won in 10% of all the districts of Lithuania,' stated the EAPL chairman. He also underlined, that if necessary, he will continue his efforts to improve the situation of national minorities and discriminated people on the forum of the EP.
'The aim of the existence of the European Parliament is to make it possible for us to express our opinions. A parliamentarian has not only the right but also the obligation to raise current problems and questions. If a fine of 14 thousand euros is imposed on Mr Boleslav Daškevič for the use of his native language, we need to talk about it, as such discrimination is an unprecedented phenomenon in any EU member state. If similar cases occur, we will respond, because it is our prerogative. The duty of a parliamentarian is to prevent discrimination against all citizens. I did so and I intend to continue my work,' said V. Tomaševski, who was reelected to the European Parliament.
