Among the issues discussed, were Lithuania-Holy See cooperation, latest international and European policy developments, Lithuanian Prime Minister's recent visit to Vatican and the audience with Pope Francis in September last year.
"You must be aware of the high regard the Lithuanian people hold for Pope Francis, particularly for his sincerity and simplicity," said the Lithuanian Prime Minister.
Having noted the close bilateral Lithuania-Holy See relations, the interlocutors agreed to continue in the same vein in the future. They also discussed foreign policy and stressed the need for cooperation in promoting the fundamental values of democracy and respect for human rights in Europe and around the world.
His Excellency Pedro López Quintana is the fifth Apostolic Nuncio to Lithuania. The Holy See had never recognized the occupation and annexation of Lithuania, and the Lithuanian diplomatic mission to the Holy See operated during the occupation.
