On Wednesday, Parliament will hold a special plenary session on the European Green Deal, a strategy to enable Europe to be the first continent to achieve climate-neutrality. The project will be presented to MEPs by Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, and Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans.
On Monday, the constitutional affairs committee will finalise its input for a conference on the future of Europe, which is planned to start in 2020. The conference is organised by the Parliament together with the Council and the Commission and will be a chance for people to express their views and contribute to the reform of the EU.
Parliament will also celebrate the laureates of the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought by unveiling the Sakharov Walk of Freedom on Tuesday. The walk consists of slabs presenting all Sakharov Prize laureates and can be found between the buildings of the Parliament in Brussels. The Parliament has been awarding the Sakharov Prize every year since 1988 to individuals and organisations defending human rights and fundamental freedoms.
