The Governor General of Canada is coming to enhance political and economic relations between Lithuania and Canada and promote people-to-people contacts. During the meeting, the President and the Governor General will discuss transatlantic relations, preservation of security and stability in the region, cooperation with NATO, progress in the development of bilateral trade and exchange ideas on the issues of media freedom.
After the meeting, the Governor General will visit start-up, technology and science development centers in Vilnius and Kaunas.
Governor Payette is coming to Lithuania for an official visit, it is her first visit to Lithuania. After the meeting in Lithuania, she will visit Estonia.
Julie Payette has been Governor General of Canada since 2017.
