The survey was conducted among adult residents of major Lithuanian cities. 500 people over 18 years old took part in the survey. The participants answered whether or not they plan to take part in the presidential elections that will be held on Sunday, 11th May, and if so, which candidate they are going to support.
According to the survey, 26,1 percent of respondents are going to vote for the current President Dalia Grybauskaitė. The leader of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, Member of the European Parliament Valdemar Tomaševski took second place – 11,4 percent of respondents are going to support him. Based on this information, it can be assumend that V. Tomaševski is going to be the rival of D. Grybauskaitė during the second round of elections.
The social democrat, Member of the European Parliament Zigmantas Balčytis is on the third place (supported by 10,7 percent of respondents). Further goes Member of the Seimas, former conservatist Naglis Puteikis (supported by 8,6 percent of respondents).
The candidate of the Labour Party Artūras Paulauskas would be supported by 8,3 percent of residents, mayor of Vilnius Artūras Zuokas – by 6,4 percent, and mayor of Ignalina Bronis Ropė – by 4,1 percent of respondents.
