Opportunities for strengthening bilateral relations in economy, trade, tourism, education and science were discussed with the Romanian Ambassador. According to the President, Lithuania and Romania are important partners of the European Union and allies of NATO who share a similar vision of the future of the EU, face the same defense, cyber security and energy security issues in the Baltic and the Black Sea region.
In the President’s opinion, Germany is one of key security and economic cooperation partners of our country. Lithuania highly values Germany’s leadership in strengthening the security of the Baltic States. At the meeting with the new German Ambassador, bilateral relations between Lithuania and Germany, security situation in the region, development of political, economicas well as cultural relations and partnerships were discussed. When talking to the German Ambassador, the President highlighted that it was important to continue looking for opportunities to attract investments from German companies and financial institutions.
After the meeting with the Latvian Ambassador, the President expressed delight over a successful visit to Latvia in July, where he met with President Egils Levits, Speaker of the Seimas Inara Mūrniece and Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. The President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral economic relations, regional defense and security as well as strategic energy and transport projects, safety issues of the Ostrovets nuclear power plant. According to the President, Lithuania and Latvia should continue fostering shared Baltic heritage and develop cultural relations.
