The Prime Minister has welcomed good political, economic, cultural and academic relations between Lithuania and India. According to the Head of the Government, although Lithuania and India are geographically distant from each other, there are many things that unite them, such as respect for Sanskrit and the rule of law in international relations and other fields.
‘As the Head of the Government I am particularly interested in successful development of economic relations. The opening of the embassy of India in Vilnius would be an important practical tool enabling stronger cooperation, thus I invite India to make important decision in that direction’, said Saulius Skvernelis.
The Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has welcomed the fact that companies from India discover the attractiveness of Lithuania in terms of investments. He noted that Lithuania aims to become the centre of finance related technologies in the Nordic and Baltic region, thus invited the delegation of India to the international conference FintechInn to be held on 27–28 November in Vilnius.
The importance of close academic links has also been noted in the meeting. More and more students from India choose high quality studies in Lithuania.
This is the first visit of high level official from India to Lithuania. The visit also includes the Lithuania – India Business Forum which will be attended by the representatives of Indian companies active in the sectors of food, information technologies, tourism, textile, pharmacy, renewable energy and engineering.
