President Gitanas Nausėda underscored the importance of stepping up the EU-US dialogue with special focus on common challenges faced by both the European Union and the United States. He also underlined the need of cooperation in developing global standards and new technologies, reinforcing energy security and attracting reliable investment. “It is necessary to make every effort to maintain a positive agenda and continue collaborating with the United States on issues that affect us,” the President said.
Gitanas Nausėda invited German companies to seek out opportunities to invest in Lithuania’s engineering, automotive industry, IT, business services, and financial technologies. “We can increase collaborative work in financial technologies, investment funds, green finances, and cyber security. In the last several years, we have developed the most attractive legal environment for financial service providers in the region,” the President said.
The meeting also focused on European energy security and challenges. President Gitanas Nausėda pointed out that the Ostrovets nuclear power plant, constructed in violation of environmental and nuclear safety standards, posed a threat to EU countries. The two presidents discussed the synchronization of Baltic power grids with continental Europe.
In the meantime, First Lady Diana Nausėdienė was invited for a meeting with the German President’s wife, Elke Büdenbender. The conversation centered on social projects and community projects that both support.
