‘Some individuals involved in the debate on who is a hero and who is a traitor of Lithuania seem to have already gone beyond the limits of civilized dispute or dialogue. I would like to make it very clear to these that incitement to ethnic hatred in whatever form is not and will not be tolerated in Lithuania. Lithuania is a country where citizens of all nationalities live peacefully side by side and where they must feel safe’, says Saulius Skvernelis.
The Prime Minister has also called on law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to prevent possible elements of ethnic hatred and, if necessary, to resort to other statutory measures. The Prime Minister has emphasized that it is the duty of the state to guarantee the right to security for every citizen and every community living there. This obligation must implemented by the competent authorities.
