Linkevicius noted that the completion of the EU internal energy market and the abolition of the so called energy islands remained particularly relevant both to Lithuania and Spain. The Lithuanian minister thanked Spain for support for these priorities during the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council.
Linkevicius welcomed the growing bilateral trade and encouraged Spanish companies to more actively invest in most progressive Lithuanian economic sectors such as research, innovations and technologies.
Meanwhile, Spanish Minister Garcia-Margallo expressed his support for Lithuania's aspiration to introduce the euro on 1 January 2015 and welcomed slow, yet steady economic recovery in Spain.
The ministers agreed to hold consultations on cooperation issues in the United Nations.
