According to Butkevicius, Lithuania's striving to become a member of the euro club was supported by the representatives of the country's authorities as well as by the foreign countries.
Prime Minister highlighted that Lithuania's striving to adopt the euro was also supported by President of the European Commission (EC) Jose Manuel Barroso.
"I and President of the EC discussed the euro adoption. He was relatively well-informed and wished to be ambitious. I have understood that he supports and wishes success for Lithuania," said Butkevicius.
According to Butkevicius, the President of the European Commission (EC) thanked Lithuania for the successful country's Presidency of the European Union (EU) Council.
Lithuania's Prime Minister ascertained that the position on the euro adoption was coordinated with the coalition's partner Order and Justice.
"I can say that Rolandas Paksas and other leaders of the party have ascertained that there will be no referendum. I think that one or another statement was made because of the forthcoming elections," said Butkevicius.
