After the Central Electoral Commission published the results, it became clear that EAPL-CFA managed to win one seat of the member of the European Parliament for the third time in a row gaining 5.6% support, which is about 70,000 votes. According to the election results, the seat of the MEP will be taken for the third time by the EAPL-CFA leader Valdemar Tomaševski.
The results are an unprecedented success of the Polish community in Lithuania, which also has an 8-member parliamentary faction in the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and 56 councillors in six Lithuanian local governments.
The electoral campaign was not easy, there was great competition among Lithuanian committees and parties as well as obstacles posed by some Polish-language media. But despite all the difficulties, EAPL-CFA repeated its election result from the parliamentary elections that took place 2,5 years ago and significantly improved the results compared to the elections to local governments of last March.
EAPL-CFA has proved its honest and devoted work. The party also proved that it unites the absolute majority of Poles, as well as other national minorities and Lithuanians, as there are more and more people voting for the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance.
Only five MEPs from the term 2014-2019 were re-elected for another five years including Valdemar Tomaševski, Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, Viktoras Uspaskich, Petras Auštrevičius and Bronis Ropė.
