Arturas Paulaskas said that on Monday he will present the list of signatures of voters who support him as the candidate of the Labour Party. The leader of Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania Valdemar Tomaševski who is applying for the position of the President of Lithuania and who is supported by 50 thousand voters' signatures is also going to submit the forms with signatures on Monday morning.
CEC has registered 19 participants of the political campaign, 12 of whom were registered as applying for the presidential candidacy of Lithuania.
The candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Zigmantas Balčytis, candidate of Lithuanian Peasant and Greens Union Bronius Ropė, and mayor of Vilnius Arturas Zuokas have also informed the information agency ELTA that they have collected the required number of signatures. The President Dalia Grybauskaitė applying for the re-election, was supported online by nearly 14 thousand citizens. The electoral staff of D. Grybauskaitė was not able to tell how many voters signed up on the forms, as the list has not been returned yet.
The first presidential candidates have received the forms for signatures on 22nd February. The signed forms have to be delivered to CEC no later than on 27th March. It is also possible to support a candidate electronically.
The elections of Lithuanian President will take place on 11th May. There were 7 presidential candidates during last elections of the head of state in 2009. Another 8 people have failed to collect the required number of signatures of voters or there were other reasons why they did not become candidates.
