The priorities of the Romanian Presidency are organized around these four pillars: Europe of convergence; a safer Europe; Europe as a stronger global actor; and Europe of common values. The main objective of the Romanian Presidency in this semester is to develop an orientation for the next stage of the negotiations, with a view to achieving an agreement in the European Council in autumn 2019.
"Lithuania needs an ambitious, balanced Multiannual Financial Framework. We have not achieved these goals yet," said the Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister A. Zananavičius. "It is necessary to clearly indicate the most relevant beneficiaries of EU funds. Thus, we hope that Lithuania's priorities and funding needs will be properly taken into account," said the Foreign Vice-Minister, who called on his counterparts to continue constructive discussions on the next seven-year EU budget.
Ministers exchanged their views on a coordinated European response to disinformation and which elements of the Joint Action Plan against disinformation should be addressed as a matter of priority.
“We are happy with our existing Action Plan. Now we need to focus on its implementation. At the same time, it is essential to clearly define the interinstitutional coordination model and to allocate sufficient resources to the implementation process. It is necessary to act as quickly as possible, as well as to engage our civil society and the media. The platform Demaskuok.lt. is successfully operating in Lithuania, so we would suggest establishing an EU network based on the same model, which would analyze sources and features of disinformation,” said the Vice-Minister A. Zananavičius.
