According to the Prime Minister, the published information clearly indicates that third-country intelligence services have actively sought ways to affect the domestic policy and other State processes in Lithuania. According to the Prime Minister, it is obvious that those efforts do not yield desired outcomes thanks to the proper work of the Lithuanian services.
‘Security and stability are among the key priorities for myself and the entire Government. We will continue devoting special attention to them. I will never be a passive observer of processes despite attempts by some politicians, political scientists or commentators to mock or downplay the importance of national security topics on the Government’s agenda’, says Prime Minister Skvernelis.
The Prime Minister also trusts that results of the work by the law enforcement and intelligence authorities will finally make the politicians wake up, especially those who during yearly budgetary deliberations ostentatiously revolt against the allegedly excessive appropriations assigned to these institutions and try to block the decision-making process.
‘I sincerely thank the officials for their loyal service to Lithuania. For my part, I can assure you that the Government will continue with paying due attention to strengthening technical and analytical capacities of the services and provision of sustainable funding’, says Prime Minister Skvernelis.
