According to the Prime Minister, this first meeting of the Prime Ministers of three Baltic States and the Prime Minister of the State of Israel is a historic event which occurs at a key moment for the countries when three Baltic States mark the 100th anniversary of their statehood and Israel marks the 70th anniversary of its statehood.
'There is no alternative for the transatlantic cooperation. Europe, USA and Israel naturally become allies. We share common values of democracy, respect of human rights and the rule of law, security challenges and close economic relations. We are and will remain to a large extent co-dependent and such co-dependence is the strongest incentive to cooperate,' noted the Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis.
The participants also emphasised that the Baltic States support closer cooperation between the EU and Israel. They noted that only diplomatic means and negotiations could guarantee peace in the Middle East Region.
'All four countries share similar history and similar regional security and country development challenges, thus we should maintain dialogue and reinforce practical links,' said the Head of the Government Saulius Skvernelis.
