Geopolitical situation, international tensions and global security challenges that demand a coordinated transatlantic response were discussed at the meeting.
According to Dalia Grybauskaitė, transatlantic relations have no other alternative. A strong bond between both shores of the Atlantic is a foundation for common security of the U.S. and of the entire Europe. Therefore, it is necessary to overcome the arising tensions, refrain from unilateral decisions and strongly uphold the undertaken obligations to enhance security, raise defense funding, efficiently modernize military forces and infrastructure and implement NATO summit decisions.
Ukraine was in the focus of the meeting. According to the President, it is in Ukraine where hostile forces test hybrid war scenarios that subsequently turn into aggressive attacks against the democratic processes of the Western states. Dalia Grybauskaitė said that it was necessary to help Ukraine as it fought for its resolve to take the path of transatlantic integration. At the same time, Ukraine defends the values of Western democracies.
This year, President Valdas Adamkus Conference is held for the second time.
