'I would like to thank you for contributing to the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries and development of good and friendly bilateral relations over the years spent working in Lithuania', said the Prime Minister.
Toyoei Shigeeda made a significant contribution to the organisation of the visits of high level officials of Japan to Lithuania. It should be recalled that the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe paid a historic visit to Lithuania in January. Other members of the Government of Japan are also expected to visit Lithuania. Such contacts are aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, also in the context of cooperation between Japan and the Baltic states.
The Prime Minister also thanked the diplomat of Japan for intensive work undertaken in the regions of Lithuania and focus on smaller municipalities. Such activity will definitely strengthen links between the people of Lithuania and Japan, especially the youth, and will bring benefits for the future.
It was emphasized that tourism remains a very important field of bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Japan. It was mutually agreed that keeping alive of the memory of Chiune Sugihara strengthens links between the people of the two countries, thus it must be further developed in the future.
In addition, the Prime Minister expressed his wish to pay a response visit to Japan in the near future.
