A preliminary agreement was made on it on Tuesday during the meeting of the Presidium of this interparliamentary Assembly.
"The meeting of the bilateral interpaliamentary assembly will focus on the 20th anniversary of the historical treaty between the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Poland on friendly relations and good neighbourly cooperation signed on April 26, 1994. It was a point of historical break, by which the both countries agreed to forget disagreements of the past for the future of good relations, common euro-integration aspirations and well-being of their citizens," said Deputy Parliament Speaker, Chair of the Seimas Committee on European Affairs, Chair of the Lithuanian Delegation to this Assembly Gediminas Kirkilas.
"I am sure that the Law on National Minorities, which I hope will be adopted before the bilateral interparliamentary assembly of Lithuania and Poland, will be beneficial to both the states and their relations. Lithuania and Poland are the states of crucial importance to each other, therefore, we must regard the bilateral relations with as much responsibility as it was 20 years ago," said Kirkilas.
