In the fourth in a series of debates between national leaders and MEPs, French President Emmanuel Macron comes to Strasbourg on Tuesday morning for an exchange of views on the future of Europe.
Under legislation on the circular economy to be put to a vote on Wednesday, the share of municipal waste to be recycled will rise from 44% currently to 55% by 2025.
According to two draft EU laws to be voted on in Parliament on Tuesday, binding national targets will be introduced for cutting CO2 emissions in the transport, agriculture, construction and waste sectors, while any deforestation in the EU will need to be compensated for by planting new trees.
Parliament also votes on new rules to boost the energy efficiency of buildings, support the Union’s organic food sector, and update the EU’s anti-money laundering directive.
