On Wednesday Parliament's energy committee votes on legislation clarifying that gas suppliers from Russia and other countries must comply with EU gas market rules, designed to strengthen competition. Polish EPP member Jerzy Buzek, the author of the Parliament report on this, said EU countries and market participants could have diverging interpretation of the existing rules.
The European Parliament will pay tribute to victims of terrorism during a hearing on Wednesday, organised by the special committee on terrorism and to be opened by Parliament president Antonio Tajani. The event will be held on the eve of 22 March. On that day in 2016 32 people died in coordinated suicide bombings in Brussels, while in 2017 five people were killed in a terrorist attack near the Houses of Parliament in London.
Fewer people are being vaccinated, according to data from EU countries. On Tuesday Parliament’s public health committee votes on a report calling for measures to increase the uptake of vaccinations.
The transport committee votes on Tuesday on plans to give the European Commission more tools to investigate and sanction non-EU countries’ airlines that enjoy unfair competitive advantages such as subsidies or discriminatory access.
