One of the points of the council agenda was the issue of repaying the pensions that were deducted by the former conservative-liberal government. Information on this case was provided by the Minister of Social Security and Labour Algimanta Pabedinskienė and the Minister of Finance Rimantas Šadžius.
The council of the coalition accordingly stated that the issue of compensating illegally deducted pensions should be immediately solved and decided to appoint a working group to elaborate a plan of deducted pensions repay. The chair of the working group will be held by the Minister of Social Security and Labour Algimanta Pabedinskienė. The Minister of Finance Rimantas Šadžius and one representative of each coalition party will sit there as well. The position of EAPL in the mentioned working group will be represented by the chairwoman of the parliamentary EAPL faction R. Tamašunienė.
The following point of the council agenda was a discussion on a draft of the Law on National Minorities and a decision of the Governments' Strategic Commission on the draft of the Law. The second reading of the Law on National Minorities will be held in the nearest future in the Seimas. The Law was approved on the first reading in 2012, during the ruling of the former government.
´The previous Law on National Minorities has been successfully operated for 19 years and did not disturb anyone. There is a high probability that the Law will be restored. It should obtain the support of our coalition partners, as well as of conservatives, who in 1991 adopted and whose spiritual leader Vytautas Landsbergis signed an identical to presently proposed Law,' said the leader of EAPL and a Member of the European Parliament Valdemar Tomaševski for an interview with L24.lt.
The Law would be a reinstatement of the previous Law on National Minorities which has expired in 2010. Coalition members have agreed that this solution is transitional until the new Law on National Minorities is adopted.
