At the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, the Georgian delegation met with representatives of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defence to discuss prospects for Georgia's integration into the European Union and NATO, and other items on the international agenda.
The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Andrius Krivas positively assessed the ongoing reforms to ensure the proper functioning of Georgia's democratic system, expressed strong support for the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations, its territorial integrity, and the importance of the rule of law in the context of democratic reforms.
The Vice-Minister congratulated Georgia on the initialling of the Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, welcomed the signature of a framework agreement for the participation in the EU's international missions, and thanked Georgia for its contribution to NATO's international operations.
The Georgian representatives thanked Lithuania for its constant support for Georgia's aspirations for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
During the consultations, the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania and the Ministry of Defence of Georgia signed a cooperation plan for 2014.
On 16 December, the Georgian representatives met with the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas (Parliament) Benediktas Juodka and participated in a roundtable discussion at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University.
