The President underlined that Lithuania strongly hopes to maintain good bilateral relations based on mutual respect and equal cooperation with Russia.
According to the President, only an open and transparent dialogue, respect for international treaties and commitment to international obligations can ensure fruitful cooperation between Lithuania and Russia," the President said.
The meeting focused on economic cooperation and bilateral trade. President Dalia Grybauskaitė emphasized that bans on Lithuanian dairy products without giving any explanations, Russia's refusal to comply with provisions of the TIR Convention (TIR Carnet) impair bilateral trade relations between Lithuania and Russia and infringe the principles of the World Trade Organization agreements and other international instruments.
The Ambassador, born 1951, completed history and diplomacy studies. Alexander Udalcov embarked on a diplomatic career in 1973, served in Russian diplomatic representations in Latvia and Slovakia. He speaks English, Czech and Slovak.
