During the meeting, the two Heads of Government will discuss topical international and regional policy issues as well as bilateral cooperation in economy, with particular attention to the sectors of life sciences, information technologies, transport and logistics. The issue of a closer dialogue between the Baltic States and Japan will also be touched upon.
On the same day, a business forum will be hosted by the Government Office. The heads of Japan’s 13 largest corporations are scheduled to attend.
A press conference will be held at the end of the meeting, during which the Lithuanian and the Japanese Prime Ministers will share their thoughts on the visit.
For Lithuania, this will be the first visit of a Japanese Prime Minister throughout the entire history of Lithuanian statehood. Japan stands out as the world’s third largest economy. Lithuania and Japan enjoy friendly political relations as well as growing economic cooperation, especially in the area of trade. Lithuania’s export of agricultural and food products to Japan has been on the rise, and the number of tourists from this country has also been growing.
