The solemn commemoration of the Centennial of the Restoration of the State will be attended by members of the Royal families of Denmark and Sweden as well.
This year, Lithuania is looking forward to the visit of Pope Francis as well as to the visits of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, President Emmanuel Macron of France, Presidents of Ireland, Italy, Greece and Indonesia.
On the initiative of President Dalia Grybauskaitė who chairs the Council of Women World Leaders, Vilnius will host an international conference of women political leaders. In June, the conference will be attended by incumbent and former heads of state and government as well as women parliament members from all over the world. A hundred years ago, Lithuania restored a modern state and was among the first in Europe to grant women voting rights.
With Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Georgia marking the centennials of their states in 2018, the President will attend celebrations in these countries as well. This year, the foreign visits of the President will also see the events dedicated to the Centennial of Lithuania.
