On the basis of studies carried out in Lithuania and the European Union in connection with the Directive 2000/84/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 January 2001 on summer-time arrangements as well as study results on the impact of summer-time arrangements on people’s health and sectors including energy, transport, environment, finance, tourism and agriculture, the Resolution of the Seimas encourages the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to launch consultations with the European Commission on amending the provisions of the said Directive by allowing each Member State to decide on the application of summer-time arrangements on its territory individually, taking into account the results of the analysis of the implications of summer-time arrangements. The Seimas also proposes that the Government, where appropriate, delegates to respective public authorities to conduct a sociological survey of the Lithuanian population within the limits of their jurisdictions on the application of summer-time arrangements.
This Resolution repeals Resolution No. XII-2100 of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania of 26 November 2015 on the application of summer-time arrangements on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.
