According to the President, it is crucial to advance bilateral economic cooperation between Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The signing of bilateral agreement for the avoidance of double taxation would be important for both countries. The agreement has been under consideration since 2010.
"Bosnia and Herzegovina could use Lithuania's experience in integrating with the EU. Policy shapers of the country should adopt legislation needed for the integration, which requires agreement of all political parties. Greater political will of Bosnia and Herzegovina would bring it closer to EU membership," the President said.
According to the President, NATO is important for ensuring security and stability in Europe. Lithuania calls on the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina to make use of the NATO assistance that would promote integration.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 6 November 1992.
Kemal Muftić was born in 1952. He is the fifth ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Lithuania. Between 2006 and 2009, he was ambassador in India. The diplomat speaks French, Chinese, English and Italian.
