The meetings focused on possible areas for cooperation in life sciences, photonics, financial technologies, engineering, smart cities technologies and cybersecurity. The officials agreed to promote dialogue on joint academic programs and academic exchanges, and discussed the opportunity for Lithuanian startups to participate in startup accelerator programs in Singapore.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also visited the Singapore Fintech Festival, which is one of the most important fintech conferences in Asia. Linkevičius also greeted representatives of Asia’s fintech community, who attended an event representing Lithuania, entitled ‘Destination EU 2018: The Fastest Pan-European License for Your Fintech’. The participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with Lithuania’s advantages in the field of financial technologies.
“Though far away geographically, Lithuania and Singapore are both open for innovation and share similar goals to become financial technology industry hubs in their regions,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister is accompanied by a delegation of members of the academic community of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Kaunas University of Technology, and representatives from the Lithuanian Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) and the Lithuanian Laser Association.
