The meeting discussed the upcoming visit by Linkevičius to Singapore on 14-16 November. The head of Lithuania’s diplomacy together with a business and science delegation will attend the Singapore Fintech Festival, during which Lithuania’s financial technology sector will be presented.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister and the official from Singapore agreed that there was a lot of untapped potential for cooperation between Lithuania and Singapore in the fields of information and financial technology, lasers, life sciences, logistics. The officials also underlined the need to strengthen ties between universities and institutions responsible for science, technology and innovation. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister invited representatives of Singaporean science and business to take part in Life Sciences Baltics 2018, which will take place on 26-27 September in Vilnius.
The Minister Linkevičius reiterated an invitation for the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong to pay a visit to Lithuania and called for an appointment of an Honorary Consul in Lithuania. In addition, Linkevičius reminded the guest about a request to support Lithuania as a candidate for the election to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2022-2024.
During his visit to Lithuania, Peter Tan Hai Chuan also met with the Foreign Vice-Minister Neris Germanas and the Vice-Minister of Economy Lina Sabaitienė.
