The Annual Forum's participants will cover the importance of macro-regional strategies for the promotion of sustainable development and will discuss how environmental protection can contribute to the creation of jobs and boost competitiveness. The Forum will also analyse how the BSR, seeking sustainable development, contributes to the implementation of the Europe 2020 strategy's goals – progressive, sustainable, and integral growth.
About 700 representatives of EU institutions, regional organizations, NGOs, scientific organizations, governmental and self-rule institutions and businesses are expected to participate. The best projects of regional cooperation will be available at the Project Village.
The event will be opened by Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania, and Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for Regional Policy.
The Forum, which is being organized for the 4th time, is one of Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council's main events.
