At their traditional meeting held to address prospects for cooperation, the three Baltic presidents will focus on common actions and measures to ensure energy, economic, military and information security of their countries.
Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia stand together in their search for alternatives to Russian gas as well as by their common aspiration to integrate as quickly as possible into the European energy network and reduce dependency on a single supplier. The heads of state of the three Baltic countries will discuss ways of speeding up the implementation of projects important for the energy security of the entire region.
On the meeting's agenda are options for strengthening the security of the information space and preventing information schemes threatening the interests of the Baltic States and downgrading our region.
Dalia Grybauskaitė will highlight the topical issues of the Lithuanian EU Presidency, the ongoing preparations for the Vilnius Summit and related challenges. Views will be exchanged on collaborative work in the EU to protect the interests and the people of the Baltic countries.
The three presidents also will review preparations for Steadfast Jazz 2013 - NATO's first collective defence exercise in the region which will take place in early November.
The Presidents of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will meet with the Finance Minister of the Netherlands and President of the Eurogroup, Joroen Dijsselbloem, to discuss financial and economic stability as well as the situation in the Euro zone.
