According to the President, Lithuania and Guatemala enjoy successful cooperation in the United Nations.
"Lithuania highly values Guatemala's support in voting for Lithuania's candidacy at the elections to the United Nations Security Council yesterday," the President said.
The President and the Ambassador discussed the need to fully exploit the potential of multilateral cooperation. The EU-Central America Association Agreement signed by the Republic of Guatemala in 2012 will open new prospects for economic-level collaboration.
Lithuania and Guatemala established diplomatic relations in 1993 - twenty years ago.
The Ambassador (52) is married, has two children. Mr. Jorge Ricardo Putzeys Uriguen studied business administration in Guatemala, completed the French Language and Civilization as well as International Trade and International Relations study programs in Paris. He speaks Spanish, French, English and Italian.
