“We are gathered here today to witness an exceptional event in the Lithuania-Ecuador relationship – the Honorary Consulate of Lithuania opens again. I am pleased that the Consulate will be headed by the person, who is a friend of the former Honorary Consul of Lithuania Judith Walker and is well acquainted with activities of Honorary Consuls, as well as representation of Lithuania’s interests,” said Eduardas Borisovas, Director of the Department of Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
The new Honorary Consul of Lithuania stressed that he would strive to strengthen economic and cultural relations between Lithuania and Ecuador. According to him, Ecuador has repeatedly helped Lithuanians in legal matters and is ready to provide all possible assistance also in the future.
Between the years of 1994 and 2015, Judith Walker served as the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Ecuador. Raúl Neptalí Jaramillo Andrade and Miguel Weisson Chiriboga were appointed as Honorary Consuls of Lithuania in Ecuador on 5 April 2017. The Honorary Consulate of Lithuania headed by Miguel Weisson Chiriboga will be officially opened in Guayaquil on 27 June.
Lithuania established diplomatic relations with Ecuador on 20 October 1992.
