The topics to be discussed at the meeting include bilateral relations between Lithuania and Denmark, the Nordic-Baltic cooperation, as well as shared interests within the EU, NATO and other international organizations. Special focus during the visit will be placed on strengthening economic cooperation and business ties between the two countries.
According to the President, the region of the Baltic and Nordic countries is one of the fastest growing regions in Europe. It is a unique example of cooperation where the five Scandinavian states and the three Baltic states, working collaboratively and jointly protecting their interests, successfully pursue common objectives.
Strong and close relationship with Denmark and other Nordic countries is a priority item on the Lithuanian foreign policy agenda, the President noted.
On Wednesday, October 9, at 9:00 a.m., the President together with Prince Frederick will open a bilateral business forum at the National Gallery of Art, with 230 representatives from Lithuanian and Danish enterprises expected to participate.
Denmark is Lithuania's 7th largest foreign investor. 254 Danish companies are operating in Lithuania. Danish investments in Lithuania account for approximately 1.68 bn litas, mostly in such fields as business and financial services, real estate, industrial equipment, and textile.
Prince Frederick will also open a modern Danish art exhibition "Interrelations" at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and the national children's financial literacy competition, will present an architecture exhibition "A Modern Royal Household" at the newly-opened Vytautas Kasiulis Art Museum displaying the interior and decoration elements of the royal residence, and will pay visits to several Danish companies.
