Linkevičius welcomed good bilateral cooperation in the field of security and thanked Italy for its contribution to security in Lithuania and in all the Baltic states. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also noted that Lithuania took interest in the European Neighbourhood Policy, without limiting itself to Eastern partners. Lithuania is also interested in Southern partners and, especially, in addressing the issue of migration. Meanwhile, the Italian Foreign Minister drew attention to the fact that Lithuania was an attractive market for investment.
According to the Minister Linkevičius, the Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s planned visit to Lithuania in 2018 would be an important part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of bilateral relations. The Foreign Ministers concluded their meeting by inviting each other to meet in Vilnius and in Rome in the future.
