The website obtained some information on the course of the meeting. It is said that the representatives of the EAPL party were determined to speed up the consideration on the draft law on the national minorities, stressing that the coalition included this issue in the current governmental program.
Under the influence of the firm and convincing arguments that were used by the EAPL members, the coalition partners reached an agreement that as soon as possible the Strategic Committee of the Government will approve the draft law on national minorities, and in a following order it will go to the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas).
The Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius has stated that the draft law on national minorities will be considered within two weeks by the Strategic Committee of the Government.
"Within two next weeks, the draft law on national minorities will be examined on a meeting of the Strategic Committee, and (...) it will be clear which document will go to Seimas" - stated Mr. Butkevicius after the hearing on the legislative program for autumn session.
The given statement by the Prime Minister allows to assume that the head of the government won't change his mind in this matter.
