Giedrimas Jeglinskas will assume the office Monday, February 20. Former CITYGROUP Corporate Banking Vice President, he will oversee defence procurement and acquisition. With his most recent previous job being in Warsaw, before that G. Jeglinskas worked as capital markets and corporate finance expert for CITYGROUP in Sidney, Singapore, and Tokyo. G.Jeglinskas is also a former Lithuanian Armed Forces officer, he served as platoon commander with the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion in Rukla and as senior intelligence analyst with the Second Investigation Department under the Ministry of National Defence.
G. Jeglinskas graduated from the U.S. Military Academy West Point with BSc Political Science/Computer Science degree, also a holder of National Security Studies MA degree from School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, and of a Strategy and Finance MBA degree from Columbia Business School New York, NY.
“As defence spending is increased, our task is to make sure that the funds are invested in a transparent and effective manner. I am confident that my experience in the Armed Forces and international banking will be useful in the transformation of the present national defence acquisition system into an open and accountable organisation which will strengthen security of the country in the long term,” G. Jeglinskas says.
On February 21 Minister R.Karoblis’ team will be complemented by Edvinas Kerza who was previously in charge of managing key information systems projects at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Lithuania to the European Union. In the new capacity at the Ministry of National Defence E. Kerza will be responsible for cyber security, hybrid resilience, and budget formation and implementation.
“I see a more efficient cyber, hybrid and information security as my tasks,” E. Kerza says. “Since hybrid attacks are more frequent, we have to solve the issues of increasing our resilience in an expeditious manner and to enhance capabilities and capacities that provide safety in the state.”
E. Kerza holds a Master’s degree in Statistics and BSc Engineering Informatics degree from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
