The Resolution underlines the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and international relations of political parties in the current geopolitical context; calls on the countries in the Baltic Sea region to strengthen their geopolitical cooperation; takes note that Lithuania has to fully support the Eastern partnership countries in their pursuit of democratic reform.
The Resolution calls for the resumption of sustainable inter-parliamentary cooperation with Poland which is crucial in coordinating the positions on regional security; also calls for particular attention to Germany with a view to facilitating the smoothest possible formation of a NATO’s German-led battalion to be stationed in Lithuania.
The document also draws attention to the need to strengthen relations with the United Kingdom which plays an important role in the European security architecture as well as to step up direct engagement with the US Congress in searching for new opportunities and the untapped potential of cooperation between Lithuania and the US.
