The Seimas also takes note that US leadership and engagement in Europe constitute the foundations of security and prosperity on the continent. Therefore, Lithuania along with the US, is determined to further strengthen the transatlantic relations, promote the principles of freedom and democracy, enhance measures for NATO’s presence and military deterrence in Central and Eastern Europe, establish a mutually beneficial free trade area, and develop strategic projects in the fields of economy, energy and security.
The resolution highlights that the Seimas is looking forward to promoting closer bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and the US on the level of political parties as well as on business, academic, and multidisciplinary expert levels. The Seimas stresses that Lithuania has been and will remain a committed partner of the US in Europe and the Baltic Sea region.
The resolution (draft No. XIIIP-3(2)) was supported by a total of 116 Members of the Seimas with no votes against or any abstentions.
