When speaking about Lithuanian political scene and its actualities, the Chairman of EAPL Valdemar Tomaševski reminded that during the last board meeting it was stressed that coalition continues its work – this was the coalition partners response to some speculations about possible changes in coalition after the court's decision in the trial of the leaders of Labour Party. EAPL leader emphasized that the party's position in this case stays the same: it is too early for speculations because the decision of the court is not final – it will definitely be appealed.
The member of the board Miroslav Romanovski introduced others with the results of the campaign against climate change law package. The campaign was successful because 20 thousand signatures were collected from the citizens who do not approve of the implementation of such law – indeed, the required minimal number of signatures is around 10 thousand. In the near future these signatures will be presented to the Central Electoral Commission.
EAPL decided to collect signatures against third climate change law package because, in party's opinion, an urgent implementation of such laws would slow down economic growth and increase unemployment in Europe, starting in Central and Eastern Europe, and this will be especially harmful to an ordinary citizen. EAPL chairman Valdemar Tomaševski emphasized that the US and China are not even considering the reduction of CO² emissions. He added that this initiative will have more negative consequences rather than positive for ordinary citizens of those countries implementing the package. The signatures are also collected by other parties and in other EU countries. It is probable that the successful signature collection campaign at the EU level will result in a referendum that would enable Europeans to decide for themselves whether to stop the implementation of climate change law package.
Vladislav Kondratovič, the viceminister of infrastructure, and Leokadija Počikovska, the viceminister of agriculture, also participated in the meeting of the party's board. They were invited to the meeting so that they could introduce their activities in the Ministries during the past six months. The viceministers were asked to talk about their achievements, immidiate goals, and everyday challenges at work. The members of the borad were extremely interested in their reflections and asked a few questions. The members of the board unanimously agreed that the Ministries of infrastructure and agriculture are extremely important for the progra provisions of the EAPL party because exactly these ministries can do the most in implementing plans that correspond with EAPL electorate's interests and needs. EAPL chairman Valdemar Tomaševski stressed that the board is satisfied with the work and achievements of V. Kondratovič and L. Počikovska.
‚We are happy with the work of our party representatives in the ministries of infrastructure and agriculture' – he ascertained and invited party members to improve coordination with these ministries when tackling related problems.
The next EAPL board meeting will be held at the end of August. The EAPL chairman wished everybody to have good rest because this year is not an electoral year and this provides a chance for party members to concentrate on leisure, family, and personal matters.
