The leader of Labour Party, Viktor Uspaskich, was sentenced for four years of jail, however, he can move freely because of the monetary deposit that he had to pay - half a million litas. Viktor Uspaskich has already left for Russia saying that his visit was long premeditated and he does not intend to hide.

The court, when announcing its decision, announced that Viktor Uspaskich will have to pay half a million litas deposit until the court's ruling comes into effect.

During the legal process, Viktor Uspaskich travelled quite a bit and he used to arrange his travelling in accordance to the court's approval.

Interestingly, before leaving for Russia, Uspaskich emptied a lot of his bank accounts and other assets - an estimate may reach 17.8 million litas. The politician promised to explain these transactions when he is back in Lithuania.

If the court's decision is not overruled, Viktor Uspaskich would have to go to jail and pay millions in fines - around 3 - 4 million litas. However, the court's decision will go into effect only in 20 days and it can be appealed during this time. Viktor Uspaskich indicated that he will appeal the court's decision.
