After the ceremony, the officials discussed an important role of the international organisations in Geneva in addressing the main global challenges in recent years: regional conflicts, migration, human rights violations, and environmental issues. The Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva particularly highlighted the importance of implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the relevance of the gender agenda and a new understandable interpretation of the UN goals, as well as the necessity of presentation of complex activities for the general public. The Ambassador Andrius Krivas stressed Lithuania’s commitment to maintain its active and constructive role in the search for solutions to global problems.
The Ambassador Andrius Krivas served as Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania in 2013-2016. Krivas has served as Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and as Counsellor at the Embassy of Lithuania to the United States of America. The Ambassador has previously occupied various posts in the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defence.
