The meeting focused on bilateral issues concerning energy, economy, migration, and security. The President once again stressed the need to demand that the Belarusian government ensure the transparency of the construction of the Astravyets nuclear power plant and that it immediately grant access to international experts who could carry out an impartial evaluation of the security of the project and its impact on the environment.
The President emphasized that despite decreasing volumes of Lithuanian exports to Belarus, this country was an important economic partner. It is also important to create appropriate conditions for IT specialists from Belarus to work in Lithuania. According to Dalia Grybauskaitė, it is necessary to defend the interests of Lithuanian businesses in the areas of export, investment and transit.
The Ambassador, born in 1971, is married with two sons. He studied foreign trade and international relations in Lithuania, international marketing in Germany and European Union studies in Switzerland. Andrius Pulokas embarked on his career at the Office of the Government, later he served as head of the Bonn Division at the embassy in Germany and also worked at the Department of Economy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was Minister Plenipotentiary/Ambassador to Russia and since 2012 he has served as Director of the Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ambassador speaks German, Russian and English.
