According to the Minister, enhanced forward presence in each of the Baltic States and Poland with defence plans, and efficient decision making mechanism, are named as key measures of deterrence and a safeguard of regional security and stability.
Ahead of the NATO Summit in Warsaw, participants of the conference discussed efficient NATO defence and deterrence, U.S. role in the European security, and security of the Baltic region.
The conference held in cooperation by the Ministry of National Defence and the U.S. Atlantic Council analytical centre was attended by Commander U.S. Army in Europe Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, representatives and experts of U.S. and NATO defence community.
The international conference results from the collaboration between the Ministry of National Defence and the Atlantic Council think tank on the project on enhancement of collective defence and deterrence in the eastern part of NATO in the long-term.
