MEPs debate on Thursday the agreement to return migrants and asylum seekers from Greece to Turkey, which Turkey and EU countries agreed on 18 March. Also on Thursday MEPs vote on the technical aspects of the fourth EU railway package, which is about improving the safety and interoperability of European railways. Parliament reached an informal agreement with member states in June 2015.
MEPs are raising the issue of child custody in a debate on Wednesday following several requests to Parliament's petitions committee. Parliament wants to ensure that children's interests are looked after when decisions are made on adoption and parental custody in cases that involve more than one member state. MEPs also vote on a non-binding resolution on Thursday.
New rules to make financial benchmarks such as Libor and Euribor more reliable are voted on by MEPs on Thursday. The idea is to clean up how benchmarks are set, improve transparency and avoid conflicts on interests.
Committees
The civil liberties committee discusses the recent terrorist attacks in Brussels with Belgian ministers Jan Jambon, responsible for security and the interior, and Koen Geens, responsible for justice, on Monday. The committee also looks into plans to set up a common list of safe countries on Thursday. This could help to speed up the processing of asylum applications.
The economic committee votes Tuesday on a proposal on the automatic exchange of information between tax authorities regarding multinationals' country-by-country tax reports.
