On April 11 Minister J.Olekas will discuss challenges posed by migration, security situation in Eastern Europe, Lithuania's contribution to United Nations-led operations as well as other operations and missions with the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations of the United National, Herve Ladsous, military advisor to UN Secretary-General for peace keeping missions in United Nations, Lieutenant General Maqsood Ahmed, and other UN officials at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, U.S.
On April 13 the Minister will meet with Chairman of U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services Senator John McCain and other members of the U.S Congress and Senate in Washington to discuss security threats and NATO security assurance measures in our region, implementation of projects under the U.S. European Reassurance Initiative, assistance to Ukraine, Lithuanian-U.S. cooperation in capacity building, and other topics of bilateral cooperation.
On April 14 the Minister will attend a conference on defence and deterrence in Eastern Europe arranged by the Atlantic Council Analytical Center of the United States and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic Of Lithuania. The event will also be attended by members of the U.S. Senate, representatives of the Pentagon, and defence experts from Washington.
While in the U.S., The Minister is also expected to meet with Lithuanian-American Community.
